Pages Which Rank But Do Not Meet User Needs

There is a lot of content on the web. For every possible topic, there are about thousands of web pages offering information, each of them trying to be the best. Therefore, people will bounce off your page really fast if your page isn’t what they are looking for.

For improvising, go on GSC and look for all the keywords and phrases for which you are getting impressions. For your website, these phrases are not keywords but rather problems. People look up the web because they are trying to solve a problem. It is your responsibility to address it.

On the other hand, if your page is ranking for something it doesn’t cover entirely then it is good to make content that circles around those search items and keywords. Another thing that can be done is that you can alter the content of your high ranking page. This is a quite risky thing to do because you don’t know how users are going to react to the change. You might end up losing rankings even if you are modifying to suit the key phrases for which you are ranking.

Search engines have a predefined algorithm. If your website is not doing well among users,  then eventually your site would be pulled out. For ranking high, it is important to understand the algorithm and suit your website accordingly. Have a user-friendly website which serves the user in the best possible way. On the contrary, if the changes you are making aren’t good for Google’s algorithm but work well among users, then Google will sooner or later catch up and increase your rankings.
